Life Changing Secrets of the Proverbs 31 Business Woman

1. Her character is her greatest possession

“Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies.” – Proverbs 31:10

The Proverbs 31 Woman is highly valued not because of her bank account or social status. Not because of her physical appearance or even her business accumen. Her most prized possession and her greatest value comes from her Godly character. Keeping Godly character as her highest priority above any other type of success or acclaim is the most important secret of the Proverbs 31 business woman.

2. Her consistency and integrity have earned the trust of others

“Her husband can trust her,
    and she will greatly enrich his life.
She brings him good, not harm,
    all the days of her life.” – Proverbs 31:11-12

She consistently brings good to her family members and friends. She exhibits the highest loyalty and integrity, and due to these characteristics, she is trusted by her husband. Here consistency and integrity are central to her Godly character and set her above business women that are merely financially successful. The Proverbs 31 business woman is spiritually successful as well.

3. She carefully selects the best resources & products for her business

“She finds wool and flax
    and busily spins it.
She is like a merchant’s ship,
    bringing her food from afar.” – Proverbs 31:13-14

She searches for the best products and resources for her business. She wants to provide her clients with the best that their is to offer, so she does the research and the leg work to provide them with high-quality products and services, worthy of her good name.

4. She prioritizes her family and tends to their needs first

“She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household” – Proverbs 31:15a

Before she does anything else, she is up serving her family. She is making them breakfast, caring for their health and expressing her love and care through her service. Setting her family at the top of her to-do list each day sets her apart from other successful women. She has her priorities in line with a healthy life/work balance.

5. She delegates work to others to maximize her efficiency

 “and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.” – Proverbs 31:15b

It’s important to mention, she doesn’t do it all on her own. She has servants, and she delegates work to them. She plan’s their work out, and exhibits thoughtful leadership. This, combined with her preparation of breakfast, also shows a heart of servant leadership. She cares for and guides those in her care and under her leadership, shepherding them and utilizing them to maximize her business.

6. She carefully considers continued growth and investments

“She goes to inspect a field and buys it;
    with her earnings she plants a vineyard.” – Proverbs 31:16

She does not remain in one spot. She does not allow her business to become stagnant. With what money and resources she has, she considers growth and investment, always with her eye on wise stewardship of what she has been given.

7. She takes care of her health

She is energetic and strong, a hard worker.” – Proverbs 31:17

Her success is the product of hard work and concerted effort. She needs energy and strength for her task, so we can assume she takes care of her health in order to provider her with the energy and strength attributed to her.

8. She follows success with more hard work

“She makes sure her dealings are profitable;
    her lamp burns late into the night…

She carefully watches everything in her household
    and suffers nothing from laziness.” -Proverbs 31:18,27

She has acheived a great deal, enough success to make investments and purchase property. But that does not stop her. She continues to work hard. She follows up her successes with more hard work and determination to take good care of herself, her family, and all she has been given.

9. She shares her success with those less fortunate

“She extends a helping hand to the poor
    and opens her arms to the needy.” – Proverbs 31:20

She does not keep her wealth, energy, and strength all to herself. She extends a helping hand and opens compassionate, caring arms. Again, her Godly character shines through exhibiting not only a talented business woman, but a kind-hearted daughter of God.

10. She is secure in her future because her hard work has paid off
She has no fear of winter for her household,
    for everyone has warm[c] clothes…

She is clothed with strength and dignity,
    and she laughs without fear of the future.” Proverbs 31:21,25

She has worked hard, acheived much, and made wise, careful decisions. She has served God well, looked to Him for worth, and followed his guidance in shaping her heart. Not she experiences the benefits of all of this. She has no worry for the future. Her hard work has paid off in material comfort, but more than that, her Godly character reaps the rewards of trusting in God. She has clothed herself in His characer, in strength and dignity, and now she need not fear for her future, because she knows God is trustworthy and He is with her.

These life-changing secrets yield powerful results.

28 Her children stand and bless her.
    Her husband praises her:
29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
    but you surpass them all!”

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
    but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
31 Reward her for all she has done.
    Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

More than physical or financial comfort or success. More than acclaim and recognition in the business community or among her colleagues. She reaps the rewards of a life lived for God. Her children and husband bless and praise her for who she is. What a wonderful reward to strive for!
