Proverbs 31:13-14 and God’s Will

Merchant's ShipI love the language in these two verses for the picture they paint in my head.  Per Wikipedia, a merchant vessel is a ship that transports cargo or passengers.  Hmmmm.  When I read that, I pictured a mom with 5 kids and a Cheerio-infested minivan.  Maybe there’s something to that.  Then there are the action words:  finds, busily spins, bring.  See a pattern there?  As for wool and flax, they are used to make clothing and other materials.  Flax is most commonly used these days as a superfood.  Flaxseed contains high levels of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, making it a healthy component to any diet.  I digress.  As usual, my reflection on all of this will come later.

Before I go and leave you to your own reflection, I have a verse on my mind today that I would like to share.  We all go through times where we are “in waiting”, wondering about the next step, frustrated with the patience that is required to see what God has in store for us.  We’ve all questioned God’s will for our life, admittedly, I know I have.  It’s hard for me when the answer isn’t clear and the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t exactly a shining light.  So, when you find yourself questioning rather than trusting, be reminded that God’s will for us is very simple:

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Now let Him take care of the rest!
